Our association is comprised of members from all areas of the Quarter Horse industry. IQHA serves as the Illinois AQHA affiliate association of the American Quarter Horse Association.
The purpose of IQHA shall be to promote the American Quarter Horse in the State of Illinois. To achieve this purpose IQHA:
* shall promote interest in riding, breeding, raising, training, exhibiting and racing the American Quarter Horse,
* shall organize, promote and sanction events and activities for Quarter Horses and their owners.

Novice Championship Qualification
The following classes will be held: halter (yearling, 2 yr. old, 3 yr. old, aged and performance halter geldings and mares), showmanship, horsemanship, hunt seat equitation, western pleasure, hunter under saddle, trail, western riding, reining, barrel racing, pole bending, stake race
National qualification:
---A top 10 placing at an AQHA regional championship show in one of the above-listed novice classes
---To show at 20 AQHA shows throughout the year throughout the national qualifying period of May 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012
State qualification for Illinois:
---Participants must be a member in good standing of the Illinois Quarter Horse Association or the Illinois Quarter Horse Youth Association
---Interested participants must submit the "letter of intent to participate" for to the IQHA office prior to June 30, 2012 in order to express interest in qualifying through IQHA. The letter of intent will assist the association in identifying those individuals who wish to participate in the championship show although their area of interest/expertise may not be a class that is offered in many or any shows in the state.
---In areas/classes where there is greater competition or interest, state points (in novice categories) towards year end awards will be used to determine the names submitted.
---Points will be compiled on a one-horse, one-exhibitor basis.
---No more than 120 exhibitor names may be submitted.
